The Government of Punjab has taken a significant step toward strengthening law enforcement by establishing a specialized Crime Control Department (CCD). This initiative, approved in the 24th Provincial Cabinet Meeting held on 27th March 2025, aims to combat the rising threat of serious and organized crimes across the province.
Why the Crime Control Department (CCD) is Being Established
Due to the increasing complexity of organized crime and the limited capacity of existing Organized Crime Units, the Home Department presented a proposal to create a dedicated CCD. This new department will consist of well-equipped, highly skilled, and adaptable personnel to handle serious criminal threats and ensure public safety effectively.
Chief Minister of Punjab emphasized the urgent need for this specialized force and directed that all essential resources, particularly human resources, be provided without delay.
Total Number of New Jobs in CCD
According to the summary presented by the PPO/IGP, the total strength of the new force will be 6607 personnel. Out of these, 2607 positions will be filled by reallocating existing Punjab Police staff, while 4000 brand-new posts will be created.
Estimated Cost: Rs. 394 million/month
Crime Control Allowance: Approval recommended at 2011 basic pay scales
Recruitment for key positions such as Constables, Foot Detectives, and Assistant Sub-Detectives will be carried out in phases.
